The South Street Inn offers old-world elegance in the middle of a lively downtown. The Inn combines two restored houses. The larger house was built in 1856 for Thomas Jefferson Werenbaker, the son of a close friend of Thomas Jefferson. Meticulous attention was paid to detail in every aspect of the restoration - from the wide, welcoming neoclassical veranda to the solid walnut two-story serpentine banister in the main hallway. A new second floor public room with a fireplace has been added. The inn serves a continental breakfast featuring an array of homebaked breads and coffee cakes. Enjoy it on the garden patio or veranda or in the cozy library. There is also wine and cheese served in the afternoon.
All rooms include air-conditioning, cable television, and telephone. In addition, some rooms feature fireplaces and/or whirlpool bathtubs.<br> **This property requires a two-night minimum stay for all Friday and Saturday arrivals between the following dates: 4/24/05-12/17/05.** |

| Area Attractions
Fantastic historical sites such as Monticello, Montpelier, Ash Lawn, Frontier Farm Museum, Shakespeare Playhouse and Civil War battlefields are great places to visit. Those who want a little more activity can try canoeing on the James River, hiking in Shehendoah National Park, cruising Skyline Drive, or much more. The University of Virginia is right around the corner. Shopping and antiquing are quite nearby, as is fine dining and over 30 wineries. |

200 South Street West, Charlottesville, VA - Charlottesville/Albemarle Airport: Depart airport going south on Bowen Loop. Turn right onto Seminole Trail/US-29 South, and continue on US-29 S. US-29 South becomes US-29 BR South/North Emmet Street. Merge onto US-250 Bypass East toward Richmond. Turn right onto McIntire Road. Turn slightly right onto Ridge McIntire Road. Turn left onto West South Street, and continue until you reach the property. |
