| Property Info
The Silver Maple Lodge and Cottages is one of Vermont's oldest continuously operating country inns. The centerpiece of this historic property is an antique farmhouse dating to the late 1700's, which was expanded in the Victorian-style in the mid 1800's. The inn, which first opened its doors to travelers in the 1920's, has been restored and refurbished. The look is fresh but the lodge is filled with many of the inn's original antique furnishings and exposed 200 year old hand-hewn beams remain. You may choose from eight clean and cozy rooms in the original farmhouse, or one of seven handsome knotty pine cottage rooms. Each morning enjoy continental breakfast - highlighted by home-baked bread or rolls - served in the dining room. In warm weather, some guests adjourn outside, to relax in a rustic Adirondack chair on the huge wrap-around screened porch or under a shade tree with a cup of tea or coffee.

Thirteen of the 15 rooms offer private baths. All of the cottage rooms have small refrigerators and microwaves and two include kitchenettes. Three of the cottage rooms also have working fireplaces.

|

| Area Attractions
The Vermont way to enjoy life is a great way to enjoy life. It's a bird's eye view of the pastoral Connecticut River Valley from a floating hot air balloon basket. Or driving down a tree-shaded lane in the midst of autumn, with a palette of brilliant colors marking the foliage. It's sampling fresh maple syrup, cheddar cheese, jam, and smoked hams - and buying extra to take home. And it's breathing sharp mountain air while skiing down a scenic slope or amongst massive pine trees on a cross-country run. Vermont is also browsing through antique shops before stopping at a cheery inn for a leisurly lunch. And it's a great deal more] Attractions and activities convenient to the Silver Maple Lodge include bycicling, canoeing, hiking, golfing, hot air ballooning, skiing (down hill and cross-country), snowmobiling, fishing, swimming, tennis, antique shops, museums, theaters, restaurants and craft stores. Guests also enjoy Quechee Gorge, Maple Grove Maple Museum, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, the Cabot Farmer's Cooperative Creamery, Billings Farm and Museum, Calvin Coolidge homestead, the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, and other special places. |
