| Property Info
Located an hour south of Salt Lake City in the shadow of 12,000-foot Mount Timpanogos, this resort was founded by actor Robert Redford, who in 1969 purchased a small ski area and thousands of acres of surrounding wilderness to develop a sustainable community for the arts and a vast wilderness preserve. Structures were built with ecologically sound construction methods and materials, and the ethos is one of respect for the fragile mountain environment. Three clusters of privately owned cabins make up the resort, along with community buildings that include two restaurants and a bar, a full-service health spa, an arts center and amphitheater, stables and outfitters, and several event venues of up to 4,200 square feet. This base area anchors 450 acres of downhill skiing and many miles of cross-country and snowshoe trails, most of which convert to hiking, mountain-biking, or horseback-riding trails in warm months.

| Area Attractions
Located amid 80,000 acres of public and private mountain lands, the resort offers extensive recreational opportunities throughout the year. Most popular is the ski area, with 41 downhill/snowboard runs covering 450 acres, 2,150 feet of vertical drop, and three lifts, including a quad lift leaving from the resort. A network of cross-country/snowshoe trails also covers the area. Equipment rentals and lessons are available for all winter sports. Most trails open for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding May through October. Bike rentals are also available in season, as are fly-fishing equipment, temporary licenses, and guided horseback rides. The resort's resident naturalists lead groups on a variety of wildlife-viewing hikes and snowshoe expeditions throughout the year. Farther afield, rafting and helicopter skiing and sightseeing are available through several guide companies in the area. |
