The Spencertown Country House Bed and Breakfast is lodging at its best, resting in the foothills of the Berkshires, in the scenic Hudson Valley. Located in Eastern New York, minutes from the Western Massachusetts border and the Berkshires, the Spencertown Country House B&B is near Lenox (18 miles from Tanglewood) and 15 miles north of the Hudson, NY antique shops and art galleries. This is a beautifully restored historic country house and carriage barn. Guests can mingle with other guests in the comfy parlors, take a stroll in the gardens, or just relax and read a good book on the porch. A delicious full country breakfast is served every morning in the sunny dining room or at smaller tables in the parlors for more privacy. When guests get the munchies in the afternoon, tea and homemade cookies are available to fulfill those needs. Take advantage of the business services the inn offers.
They have ten individually styled bed and breakfast rooms all with their own private baths and air conditioning. While the five Country House guest rooms retain the New York - Massachusetts period atmosphere, the four Carriage Barn guest rooms are Hudson Valley country at its best. A few steps from the Country House is the Carriage Barn where there are four country guest rooms. Throughout this building the new wide planked floors and skillfully crafted built-in headboards and shelves are evidence of the newly rebuilt structure, but the exposed rough-hewn barn beams lend it a nostalgic old-barn aura. Each room comes with air-conditioning, an alarm clock radio, hair dryer, telephone with voicemail, cable TV, and smoke detectors.<br><br> **This property requires a two-night minimum stay for all Friday and Saturday arrivals between 5/27/05-10/31/05.** |

Situated on five landscaped acres in rural Columbia County, New York, Spencertown Country House Bed & Breakfast is at the heart of Berkshire cultural attractions in Lenox, Stockbridge, and Great Barrington, Massachusetts and those Hudson Valley destinations in Hudson, Kinderhook, and Chatham, New York. During the winter, spend hours walking along the snowy country roads or enjoying the warmth of the fireplace parlor after skiing at nearby Catamount or Jimminy Peak. In the spring and summer, choose a favorite country road or marked trail for hiking or biking. The Tanglewood Music Center, a major Berkshire attraction, is a must in July and August. Picnic on the Tanglewood lawn as part of the Tanglewood experience, or picnic on the Spencertown Bed & Breakfast lawn or covered porch before the concert. In the fall when the foothills of the Berkshires countryside bursts with color, have fun apple picking at the nearby Hudson Valley farms. Antiquing is a favorite pastime for many of the Spencertown Country House guests in any season. Warren Street in Hudson, New York is a mecca for antique shopping as is Route 7 in Sheffield, Massachusetts. For history and genealogy, visit the Columbia County Historical Society in close by Kinderhook, where the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site is located. Whether guests visit the Norman Rockwell Museum or the Hancock Shaker Village in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, the Shaker Museum and Library or Olana State Historic Site in Hudson Valley, NY guests will never drive more than 20 minutes from the Spencertown Country House Bed and Breakfast. |

1909 County Route 9, Chatham, NY - From Albany Airport: Travel east on I-90 to Exit B2/Taconic State Parkway. Travel south to the Route 203/Austerlitz/Chatham exit. Turn right (east) onto Route 203 towards Spencertown and travel east for half a mile. At the sign marked East Chatham NY/Red Rock, turn left (north) onto County Route 9. Travel .9 of a mile further north to Spencertown Country B&B. |
