Nestled among pecan trees, The Good House is a delightful place to stay on any vacation. Overlooking the ebb of Bayou Amulet, this bed and breakfast will make any guest feel at home during their stay. Completely restored and elegantly furnished guest rooms will only make the guest want to come back again and again to enjoy the warmth and coziness of the room. Upon entering the Good House, guests will immediately feel at ease in a comfortable, traditional atmosphere of cheerful upholstered furniture, surrounded by warm wood floors, wide windows, Berber rugs, and a cozy fireplace in the winter. For relaxation, enjoy the reading nook. A selection of English teas or Community Coffee is available at the guest's convenience in the Morning Room, which overlooks the Bayou Amulet with private seating for each couple. A quaint front porch with lazy swing and rocking chairs invites guests to sit a while and watch the world go by.<br><br>
Relax in these simplistic, yet treasured rooms that will bring a feeling of warmth to any guest. Whether the room is furnished with period antiques, laced with English Chintz and whimsical wicker, decorated in regal red tones, or have high cathedral ceilings, guests will feel welcome and will drift off to sleep with ease. Each room comes with air-conditioning, alarm clock radio, cable TV with VCR, ceiling fan, coffeemaker with complimentary coffee, desk, telephone with voicemail, hair dyer, internet access, smoke detectors, and a shower massage. Guests can enjoy their coffee while relaxing on the balcony/patio and watching the night sky or they can head to bed and drift off for the night. Some rooms come with a CD player, living area, and a Jacuzzi tub.<br><br> **This property requires a two-night minimum stay for all Friday and Saturday arrivals.**<br><br> Guests who plan to arrive after 10 PM must call 800-627-7019 at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive the number to call for check-in instructions. |

| Area Attractions
Visitors will have plenty to do before heading home. They can take in the Cane River Green Market where they can get fresh fruit, vegetables, jams, and fresh baked goodies to take home with them. For the history buffs, check out the Kate Chopin House, an award winning author, and the Natchitoches Parish Old Courthouse Museum, where visitors can learn about the rich tapestry of the Natchitoches parish and its people. After the history lesson, head on over to the Cane Rive National Heritage Area, which is a largely rural agricultural landscape known for its historic Creole-style plantations and structures and its unique people and culture. For the active guest, try outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, golfing, hiking, and sightseeing some of the historic areas. There is also an aquarium, galleries, national parks, parks, and theaters to visit. |

Follow HWY 6 to Natchitoches for five miles and turn left on Second Street which is the fifth traffic light. About two blocks, turn right onto Rue Poete Street. The Good House is the first house on the left directly behind the Judge Porter House. |
