The Guy House has been restored to its original splendor. Original cypress floors, thirteen-foot ceilings and original molding can be found in this room and throughout the house. Relax in a reproduction antique sofa or the two comfortable, red patterned chairs and take in the charm of years past. The Grand Hall is one of the most unique features of the house. The hallway is 55x12 and along with the three downstairs parlors, is perfect for weddings, rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers, banquets or parties. Its historic, bight red color and colossal size along with dog-ear trim and oversize crown molding will take your breath away. Equipped with a modern, commercial kitchen, any type of function can be performed. Enjoy a full- course breakfast in the same breakfast for more than one hundred and fifty years. After breakfast, relax in a rocking chair on one of two fifty-foot galleries, which are located at the front and back of the house. Take a copy of Payne Williams' book, The American Cemetery, and enjoy a stroll through the American Cemetery, where the book will guide you through the oldest cemetery in the Louisiana Purchase. What makes the Guy House unique is that every piece of furniture and all the paintings are for sell. Renowned furniture craftsman George Olivier constructed a cypress, king size bed, for the Guy House. Famous folk artist Robert Miller has placed several of his plantation-themed paintings in the house. Local artist Ed Kollar has also placed several of his oil paintings, many which depict houses and present and past scenes of Natchitoches. Antique dealer, Sherry Barrett, has loaned several beautiful antique pieces to the Guy House for you to view.
The rooms are handsomely decorated with antique and reproduction period furniture, comfortable sitting areas, central heating and air-conditioning, ceiling fans, spacious baths with Jacuzzi tubs and cable television with VCRs.<br><br> **This property requires a two-night minimum stay for all Friday and Saturday arrivals.** |

Nestled between stately live oaks, magnolia trees and the timeless Cane River is the beautiful town of Natchitoches. The oldest settlement in The Louisiana Purchase and the third oldest town in the United States, Natchitoches was founded in 1714 by Louis Juchereau de St. Denis, who had been sent by the French governor of the colony of Louisiana, Pierre LeMoine d'Iberville. Natchitoches became the westernmost outpost of the French Colonial Empire in the West and was erected to prevent further Spanish exploration within the colony. Natchitoches offers antebellum plantations, fabulous restaurants and a relaxing atmosphere. See where the movies Steel Magnolias, The Man In the Moon and The Horse Soldiers were filmed. Visit Fort St. Jean Baptiste or The American Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in The Louisiana Purchase. Enjoy a day of shopping or take a leisurely stroll through the National Historic District or along the banks of the Cane River. |

309 Pine Street, Natchitoches, LA - From Alexandria International Airport: Depart airport going east on Billy Mitchell Drive and turn left onto England Drive. Turn slightly left onto Airbase Road, then merge onto I-49 North via the ramp on the left and continue for 47.5 miles. Take the LA-6 exit - EXIT 138 - toward Many/Natchitoches. Merge onto LA-6 North, and stay straight to go onto College Avenue/LA-6 BR North. Turn left onto LA-6 BR/Jefferson Street. Turn left onto Pine Street and continue until you reach the property. |
