| Area Attractions
Telluride is the perfect spot for recreational activities and relaxing surroundings. Registered as a National Historic District, Telluride has a lot to offer visitors. While in Telluride, visit the building that Butch Cassidy robbed, or the former "Red Light District," where a former brothel has been transformed into a school for the arts. Discover the wild, wild west by visiting the Telluride Museum, which offers exhibits on home life, mining, technology, and skiing. Take a walking tour and learn about Telluride's earliest residents. Jeep tours are available for those who want to visit the old mines and ghost towns. The shopping experience is quite different from a big city experience. You won't find a McDonald's or hot apparel stores nearby, but you will find a serene atmosphere where you can sit back at a coffee house and enjoy nature's beautiful vistas. There are a myriad of shops and galleries to browse through, as well as several sporting goods stores. Visit, "Bouldering," a man-made boulder that sits outside of the Conference Center in Mountain Village. Take a free ride on the Gondola, a 12-minute ride that travels from the Victorian mining town to the modern European village. Other attractions and activities include biking, dining, golf, historic sites, horseback riding, hot air ballooning, ice skating, kayaking, National parks, nightclubs, river rafting, shopping, sightseeing, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, tennis, a zoo, and music festivals. |
