| Area Attractions
The town of Telluride is nestled in a box canyon enveloped by majestic peaks of the San Juan Mountains. Just eight blocks wide and twelve blocks long, this National Historic District is peppered with colorful Victorian homes, clapboard storefronts, boutiques, art galleries, bookstores, gourmet restaurants, and historic buildings. Telluride and Mountain Village are linked by a spectacular free 13-minute ride on a gondola. This popular scenic attraction is simple transportation as well. It provides breathtaking views and complimentary access to hiking and biking trails. Both the town and Mountain Village sit at the edge of the slopes and lifts of the ski mountain. Natural wonders in this area include the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, Bridal Veil Falls, and the famous San Juan Skyway. The Black Canyon and Mesa Verde National Parks are a two-hour drive away and the historic Swiss village of Ouray is just one hour away. Turn left onto Colorado Highway 145 and travel for 1.5 miles. Turn left into the Telluride Mountain Village and continue 1.9 miles to the Mountain Lodge at Telluride. |
