Halfway between Truckee and the north end of Lake Tahoe, this mountain lodge is reputed to be among the best in the nation for family vacations. No matter the skill level of visiting skiers, the Northstar mountains have the perfect ski run available at Mt. Pluto, Schaffer's Camp and The Backside. Summer visitors will enjoy mountain walks, golfing and wine tasting in the hills. The resort rents bicycles enabling guests to explore the lush nature trails that surround the property. Guests can also hit the links and play a few rounds of golf or set out on a fly-fishing trip. <br> From family vacations to romantic getaways, the Northstar is sure to please. Guests have unlimited access to The Swim and Racquet Club, where they can stretch out their muscles with a few laps in the heated pool, relax and unwind in one of the outdoor spas, set the kids free in the game room or incorporate a fitness regiment into their vacation at the fitness center. The adults-only lounge near the lap pool accommodates adult guests seeking peace and quiet. The lounge has a cozy fireplace, leather couches, and library. Breakfast and on-site shuttle services are offered complimentary during the winter season. <br><br> Each unit (except the Village Room)comes with a fully equipped kitchen, a washer and dryer and a fireplace to cozy up next to after long day of play. Décor varies unit to unit, but guests can expect tasteful and contemporary furnishings with mountain lodge-style motifs. <br><br> The hotel is currently adding new facilities with completion expected in November 2005. Future developments opening soon will include, Starbucks Coffe, an Italian restaurant, Big Wave Burritos and Wraps, Earthly Delights, a specialty chocolatier, S'mores Kiosk. Future developments in the Village will also include a fine dining restaurant featuring one of the nation's premier chefs, sushi restaurant, an urban-style lounge, juice bar, and ice-cream purveyor. Current establishments include Timbercreek Restaurant, The Lodge at Big Springs, and Summit Deck & Grill.<br> Families, friends, couples, and business associates seeking a variety of unit accommodations and easy access to a plethora of ski runs stay at the Northstar at Tahoe.<br><br>
<br><b>Renovation and Temporary Closure Notices:</b><br> Northstar at Tahoe Resort construction will be ongoing throughout the summer. Golf will operate daily from May 27th through the expected closure of October 29th, 2006. The hotel will continue to offer horseback riding as well as numerous summer lake activities. The hotel will not be offering mountain biking or hiking during the 2006 summer season, but these activities will return the following summer improved in full force. Starting August 15, 2006, the large swimming pool at the rec center will be closed for renovation for the remainder of the summer season. The lap pool will be open for free swimming during the renovation. <br><br> Starbucks, Big Wave Wraps & Burritos as well as Earthly Delights will remain open 7 days a week. |

Highway 267 & Northstar Drive Truckee, Calif. <br> From Reno/Tahoe International Airport: <br> Start out going West on East Plumb Lane toward Durham Road. <br> Turn right on Durham road. <br> Merge onto US-395 North. <br> After 1.7 miles, merge onto Interstate 80 West via Exit 68 toward Reno/Sacramento. <br> Continue for 32 miles. <br> Take the CA-89 North exit toward Sierraville/Loyalton/Truckee. <br> Turn left onto CA-89/CA-267, and continue to follow CA-267. <br> After approximately one mile turn left onto Brockway Road/CA-267. <br> Continue to follow CA-267 to Northstar Drive. <br> Northstar at Tahoe is on the corner. |
