The Dom Pedro Baia Club is a modern high-rise hotel overlooking the beach of Machico Bay, sited just outside the Machico fishing village and five kilometres from Funchal airport. This ten-floor hotel features 218 guestrooms, all of which include simple, functional decor, with cool tiled floors, beige walls and wood furniture. Some rooms have balconies with views of the mountains or sea. All rooms are equipped with satellite television, direct-dial multi-line phones, complimentary Internet connections and clock radios. Bathrooms include showers, hair dryers and bathrobes.
The hotel houses a large outdoor pool surrounded by sun loungers, where guests can relax with a drink from the poolside bar, and a separate children's pool. Baía de Zarco, the hotel restaurant, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers daily themed meals, such as Italian or Portuguese. Snacks and light meals are also served in the Piano Bar. Guests can occupy themselves with a board game in the games room, browse through the souvenirs in the shop, or be pampered in the hair salon. As well as live music held in the bar every evening, a range of shows are put on daily, from dance to folklore events. The sports courts offer volleyball, badminton, bowls and archery. There is also a scuba diving centre on site. Staff at the front desk are on hand to organise transport to and from the airport and arrange babysitting and dry- cleaning services. The closest airport is Funchal Madeira International, which is five kilometres away, and can be reached by car in approximately five minutes.
