With just 18 guestrooms, the intimate Alegre hotel occupies a mid-nineteenth century manor house and is set in extensive gardens on a hill overlooking the village of Luso and the Bussaco Forest, a Portuguese national park. Individually furnished with original antiques, the guestrooms all have come equipped with televisions and telephones and offer views of Luso village, the valley, the hotel gardens and the forest.
Guests can lounge by the outdoor pool with a drink from the poolside bar, stroll through the hotel's extensive gardens and relax with a glass of port by the open fire in the evening. The hotel can arrange a shuttle service to meet guests at Mealhada railway station. The best way to get there from the airport is by taxi.

| Driving Directions
From the airport, go south following signs for A1-Lisboa or A1-Sul. Follow the A1 for approximately 80 kilometers, then exit for Melahada/Luso/Bussaco/Cantanhede. From central Mealhada, follow signs for Luso. When in Luso, pass the church and the Grande Hotel, and go up the hill to the hotel. |
