The Hotel Alto Lido is a modern high-rise building overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, located in the Lido holiday area, 500 metres from the beach. The hotel's 311 guestrooms have furnished balconies with sea views, and simple decor with carpets and matching fabrics. All offer living rooms with sofas, satellite television, direct- dial phones, dial-up Internet access, minibars and refrigerators. Bathrooms have complimentary toiletries and bidets.
Guests can dine by the pool or in the more formal hotel restaurant, the Baia Azul. The Baia Azul serves international and local cuisine and is open at all meal times. The hotel is close to many attractions; a shopping centre is located just 300 metres away, and the beach is 500 metres away. There is a golf course seven kilometres from the hotel. Madeira Funchal International Airport is 22 kilometres (14 miles) from the hotel.

Driving Directions
An airport shuttle bus is available, as well as taxis. A courtesy bus runs six times from the city centre to the hotel. Central Funchal is small and can be explored on foot or by bicycle. For trips further afield, a car is ideal. Alternatively, bus services are available.
Driving directions: From the airport take the main road and follow signs to Funchal. Exit at junction number nine. Pass the hospital, traffic lights and a sign for 'LIDO'. Turn right and head towards the Lido area and the Estrada Monumental. The hotel can be seen from here; a tall blue building with its name on the main wall. |
