The Hotel Quinta das Lagrimas is a traditional 18th- century country house set in 12 hectares of gardens, one kilometre from the centre of Coimbra. The 54 guestrooms, laid out over two floors, are decorated in traditional Portuguese style with antique furniture and wooden floors. All have climate control, satellite television, direct-dial phones, complimentary wireless Internet access, minibars, and complimentary newspapers. Bathrooms have complimentary toiletries, hair dryers, makeup mirrors, slippers and bathrobes.

The golf academy, led by PGA professionals, features a nine-hole pitch-and-putt course, a driving range, an indoor training room and a clubhouse. The hotel's Arcadas da Capela Restaurant features dishes prepared with fruit, vegetables and herbs grown organically in the hotel grounds and a wine list with vintage wines. It is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, or guests can try the Aqua Latin Food Restaurant, offering a fusion of Mediterranean and world cuisine. The Convent of Santa Clara, with its splendid Gothic architecture, is 300 metres from the hotel and the National Museum of Machado de Castro, featuring religious art is four kilometres away. Porto Airport is 100 kilometres away, an approximate driving time of 45 minutes.

| Driving Directions
Trains are available from the airport to Lisbon and from there to Coimbra-B Station which is two kilometres from the hotel. A taxi from the airport to the hotel costs around 120 EUR. Many of Coimbra's attractions are within easy walking distance of the hotel and the city also has a good public bus system. |
