The Pousada do Geres-Canicada is a mountain chalet style hotel located on a hill in the Peneda-Geres National Park with spectacular views over the river Cavado and the Canicada dam. The 29 air conditioned guestrooms have rustic décor, wood furnishings and exposed timber beams. All guestrooms include minibars, direct dial phones, hair dryers and satellite television.
Guests can enjoy a swim in the outdoor pool or play a game of tennis. Breakfast is served each morning and a menu of local dishes such as a Thick Pork and Chicken Soup, and Trout in Red Wine is offered in the wood paneled, dining room. Guests can also enjoy an aperitif or dine alfresco on the terrace, which has stunning views. Alternatively, room service is on offer, or guests can relax in the lounge area, where complimentary newspapers are available. For convenience, the Pousada has a 24 hour front desk with safety deposit box service and the hotel also has a lift. There are numerous leisure options to choose from in the surrounding area, with a spa and gym, facilities for horse riding, water sports, fishing, park tours and country walks through Portugal's only national park. The town of Braga with its cathedral and monuments is 20 kilometers away and Guimarães is around 40 kilometers drive. Oporto Airport is approximately 45 minutes driving time and distance of 85 kilometers.
