Set on two private beaches on historic Piscadera Bay, the laid-back ambiance of the Caribbean meets the casual elegance of a deluxe resort at this Resort. With wide-open spaces, hidden nooks, and tucked-away places, this resort offers the ideal setting for vacationers looking to relax and be pampered. This luxurious resort offers a state-of-the-art fitness center, two tennis courts, a PADI certified five-star dive center, a water sports center, and two outdoor pools. The resort offers 196 guestrooms in a five-story building. Rooms have balconies furnished with chairs and cocktail tables. Furnishings and decor include warm-toned furniture, including a desk/dining table with cushioned rattan chairs and upholstered reading chairs; carpeted floors; pale walls with terra-cotta-accent walls; and 27-inch televisions. What to expect: Occupying 23 acres of a blunt peninsula, the resort offers panoramic sea views, particularly from the peninsula's broad end, which is swept by sea breezes, graced by cactus gardens and a lighted miniature-golf course, and features Sunset Rock, which has concrete bleachers facing west. Families and couples come to the resort for restful holidays with plenty of space, fresh air, and sunshine. Amenity highlights: Each side of the resort's peninsula features a private beach. One slopes 68.6 meters (75 yards) to a 37-meter-wide (40-yard-wide) section lapped by the sea. Prime snorkeling lies off this beach along coral-reef outcroppings. The other lies some 366 meters (400 yards) away and measures 91 meters (100 yards) wide. In the resort's center, a lagoon-style pool meanders 76 meter (250 feet), splitting into two infinity edges overlooking the sea. A star-shaped 18-by-18-meter (60-by-60-foot) children's pool includes waterspouts. Insider tip: The restored battlements of Fort Piscadera Bay lie within the resort. Nearby is Captain Bligh's Bar, named for a Captain John Bligh who led a 19th-century English force that briefly dislodged the Dutch from the fort. Bligh's Beer is brewed and served at the resort. A 464.5-square-meter (5,000-square-foot) casino offers slot machines, blackjack, Caribbean stud poker, baccarat, and roulette from early morning to late night. Live entertainment is presented nightly in various places around the resort. Wednesday evenings, a folkloric dance show is presented on an open-air terrace. Two lobby kiosks provide high-speed Internet access (surcharge). A 149-square-meter (1,600-square-foot) health spa offers massage, body wraps and scrubs, facials, and nail care. An expansive air-conditioned fitness center contains spinners, cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights and includes an aerobics/yoga studio.
