The Downtown Hotel is a modern hotel housed in a shopping and entertainment complex in the centre of Gozo's capital, adjacent to the sports centre and 750 metres from the city's historic citadel. The 40 guestrooms all extend to balconies with town or country views and feature summery decor and dark pine furniture. All include Internet connections, televisions, direct-dial phones, minibars, sofabeds and complimentary bottled water.
Guests can enjoy freshly baked rolls, pastries and sweets in the hotel's café, while the wine bar offers a selection of local and foreign wines. The Downtown restaurant offers a buffet and an a la carte menu of Italian and Mediterranean fare, such as pasta, pizza and antipasti, served in a typically relaxed Gozitan setting. A children's buffet is also available. The onsite shopping centre specialises in men's, women's and children's clothing, and also offers shoes, perfumes, fashion accessories and gifts. Younger guests will be kept entertained at the Funtown kids' club, which features a multi-storey activity castle with tubes, slides and climbing frames. Staff at the 24-hour front desk can exchange currency, store valuables in the safe-deposit box and arrange babysitting and dry-cleaning services. The Gozo Sports Complex is located next door to the hotel and offers facilities for tennis and squash. The Ggantija Temples, which date back to 3600 BC, are four kilometres from the hotel. Malta International Airport is 25 kilometres away, with an approximate driving time of 75 minutes.

Driving Directions
There is a full fixed fare taxi service to all areas of Malta. A taxi booth is located in the Welcomers' Hall, where pre-paid tickets may be purchased. Alternatively, bus no. 8 departs regularly to/from Valletta and leaves from a bus stop outside the check- in hall. Guests should travel to the Cirkewwa landing place, take the ferry to Gozo and then a bus or taxi to Victoria. Alternatively, a helicopter from the airport to Gozo Heliport takes 20 minutes and a taxi from there to Victoria takes 10 minutes.
Driving directions: From the airport, follow the signs to Gozo. Take the ferry from Cirkewwa, landing at Mgarr in Gozo. From Mgarr follow the signs to Victoria. |
