The Hostellerie Les Frenes is a family-owned hotel set in an historic building which dates from 1800, located in Montfavet, five kilometres from the Papal city of Avignon. There are 18 guestrooms, all of which are decorated in traditional Provencal style with period furnishings. Comfort is offered in the form of bathrobes and slippers, and all rooms feature bathrooms with jetted tubs; some also have separate massage showers. Guestrooms benefit from direct-dial phones, cable television and minibars, and are equipped with stereos, DVD players and high-speed wireless Internet connections.
The hotel's restaurant, Le Jardin des Frenes, is open daily for breakfast and dinner, serving fine cuisine and regional specialties using Provencal produce. Diners can be seated outside in good weather or the dining room which features walnut furniture, oak floors and exposed beams. Those seeking to relieve stress can work out on the fitness equipment or sweat it out in the sauna. The heated outdoor pool set in beautiful gardens provides a tranquil spot for some gentle exercise and there is also a spa tub to experience. Guests can unwind in the bar where they can sample vintage Cognacs and a variety of cigars. Sightseers will enjoy a visit to the walled city of Avignon, 5 kilometres away, with its Papal Palace, historic bridge and cathedral. The well-preserved amphitheatre at Orange, 30 kilometres from the hotel, is an excellent example of Roman remains and well worth a visit. The hotel is approximately 70 kilometres, or a 45-minute drive from Marseille airport.

Driving Directions
There are shuttle buses every 20 minutes to/from Marseille Saint Charles railway station and Aix-en- Provence bus station. A train can be taken to Avignon TGV station which is 15 kilometres from the hotel. Taxis are available at the airport and will cost approximately 80 EUR.
From Marseille Airport take the A7 in the direction of Lyon and leave at Exit 8 signed 'Avignon Sud'. Follow directions to Montfavet and at the traffic lights by the church turn right onto Avenue les Vertes Rives. The hotel is 700 metres ahead on the left hand side. |
