Location. Positioned on a verdant 12-acre resort and overlooking the Caribbean Sea is the all-inclusive Occidental Grand Aruba (Netherlands Antilles) on Aruba's exclusive Palm Beach. A sandy white coastline and trade wind breezes beckon guests just steps away from the resort. Butterfly farm tours and the Bubali Bird Sanctuary are located within one-quarter mile. Oranjestad offers shopping, dining and nightlife within five miles, and the Queen Beatrix International Airport is eight miles from the property.
Hotel Features. Renovated in 2006, the nine-story, colonial-style Occidental Grand Aruba features a large freeform pool with waterfalls, two whirlpools, a casino and nightly live entertainment. A shopping area, 24-hour medical service and concierge desk are available. Breakfast buffets are served each morning, and the resort boasts seven restaurants that include Italian, Tex-Mex and Asian cuisines. Gourmet selections are available at the property's Royal Club, located on an executive floor within the resort. Complimentary wireless Internet is featured throughout the property.
Guestrooms. The 400 elegant suites and guestrooms at the Occidental Grand Aruba feature mahogany-stained furnishings, marble floors and private balconies with garden or ocean views. Rooms include satellite television, wireless Internet access and in- room safes.
Expert Tip. Just a short walk down the beach, Jolly Pirates offers snorkeling tours on Aruba's high seas. Adventurous visitors can take a plunge into the bay via the ship's rope swing.
