Location. Positioned on scenic Lake Wakatipu, the Outrigger at the Beacon lies 50 meters from the city center of Queenstown, New Zealand, a resort town known for its friendly people and superb wine and food. Guests are within 500 meters of sightseeing cruises and within 15 kilometers of rafting adventures. Queenstown International Airport sits 10 kilometers away.
Lake Wakatipu stretches out like a pristine glass-top table, beautified by the towering fir trees and Southern Alps. The area is surrounded by several vineyards, and adventure guests can enjoy the plethora of nearby activities, such as paragliding and bungee jumping.
Hotel Features The Outrigger at the Beacon contains a fitness center with steam room and spa tub, and it offers complimentary on-site parking. The hotel also houses a meeting room for up to 60 guests. While the hotel does not have its own restaurant, breakfast is available in the on-site breakfast room.
Guestrooms. The 40 guestrooms and 42 suites at the 10-story Outrigger at the Beacon feature balconies, coffeemakers, direct-dial telephones and high-speed Internet access. The suites offer full kitchens, satellite television, laundry facilities and gas fireplaces.
Expert Tip. Called "The Lake that Breathes," Lake Wakatipu's water level rises and falls about 12 centimeters every five minutes. One theory states the lake is fed by and empties out into an underground water source.
