Located in the future home of the 2008 Summer Olympics, the Kempinski Beijing Hotel is the center piece of the Lufthansa Center in the hub of Beijing's business district, 15 miles from the Beijing International Airport. The Kempinski Beijing has a plethora of sights and attractions to offer tourists, Olympians and business travelers. A select few of well-known sights include the Silk Market, Lama Temple, China World Trade Center, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Beijing Zoo, all less than 10 miles from the hotel. Jia Yi, a replica of the more famous Silk Market, is four blocks away, with great bargains, including Russian-made handbags and shoes. The Great Wall of China is a must see, located about an hour and a half away. For those wanting to stay close, the Lufthansa complex includes a convention center and one of Beijing's biggest shopping malls.
The hotel is self-contained in its own gardens and offers dining, recreational and business facilities. Natural light streams through the glass roof of the expansive lobby, and thousands of lights are suspended from ceiling girders. The clean, angular lines and marble flooring are softened by colorful wall hangings, contemporary art and bamboo features. The Kempinski's seven dining venues range from traditional Chinese and Japanese to Italian and German. 24-hour room service is available as well. Recreational facilities include a glass-enclosed rooftop health center with indoor pool, separate tennis and squash courts and a garden, ideal for jogging. The business center includes a comprehensive reference section, private offices, secretarial and translation services, and computers for rent.
